About Victoria

When I'm not covered in pigments or absorbed in 3D modelling, I'm imagining new ways to help people see how science, technology, design and the arts connect and how much more interesting the world gets once you do.

I'm Victoria, a science communicator at Cambridge Science Centre and designer who recently discovered electronics somewhere between these worlds. By nature I've always been a creative who needed an entry point into the sciences to understand how everything is so connected, and that collision fuels everything I do.

My first real taste of electronics was a lockdown project; building a scale model tiny house, wiring and all. Glue gun in one hand, breadboard in the other, I found myself calculating resistance and testing parallel and series circuits just to get the lights working. I realised technical precision could be just as creative! Once I started sharing electronics projects on Instagram, there was no going back, people were hooked!

Along the way I've also earned a First-Class Honours degree in Drama and Theatre at the University of Kent, trained in interior design at KLC School of Design, now part of West Dean, and picked up scientific illustration. Each one left something behind: theatre gave me the confidence to talk about ideas, interior design gave me an eye for materials and how things are made, and science communication taught me how to make it all make sense to someone else.

Furniture is where that design eye gets to run free. I got curious enough about pigments to start reading into the chemistry behind them, and found it fascinating that it's actually molecular structure responsible for colour in the first place. Yes, that counts as design too (see the shop if you don't believe me).

Today I make electronics approachable, restore furniture with an eye for colour, design learning content that makes science click and help people see where art and science were never really separate at all.

I'm excited to share the journey with you.
